Tim Lloyd–eleven years and counting . . .

Avatar for Tim LloydAs a student, Tim Lloyd (@Apollo 18) made working on the science committee of the Conference on World Affairs a priority.

“Yes, I guess, he was the one we called whenever the press wanted to talk to a student volunteer,” Maura Clare, (@mauraclare) director, added. “He never disappointed.”

However, Lloyd’s connection with the Conference didn’t end with his student days. As an honest-to-goodness rocket scientist working for Blue Origin in Seattle, he still keeps in touch with the planning committee and shows up every April for the Conference, itself. After eleven years, what experience does he remember most?

“The first year Rachel Maddow came–the year she was broadcasting from the radio station here–I was assigned to drive her from a panel to the station. In the car, all the way to the station, she was asking me questions. She genuinely wanted to know what I thought about things. She got it. The whole point of the conference is listening and learning from lots of different people.”
